SUMMARY:Playground: Gathering Passport Blessing Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:GATHERING: Passport Blessing Ceremony \nTuesday 17th of October  7-8:30pm \nPlayground Studio / Dachauer Straße 112d\, München (Halle 6) \nPassports have varying degrees of power. While certain passports allow travel to almost anywhere in the world without any hindrance\, travel is heavily restricted for many citizens as certain countries have less powerful or blacklisted passports. This satirical ceremony/modern ritual is triggered by the intrusive processes citizens with less powerful passports have to face before entering another country\, which further cement inequality based on country of origin and questions the specific socio-political hierarchies that are determined within the global community.  \nConceived as a part of „Dance Archive Box“ project as a commission for Singapore International Festival of Arts ’15. Also performed at NgBk Berlin ‘23\, Alserkal Arts Foundation Dubai ‘23\, Mousonturm\, Frankfurt ‘22\, NAF Makhanda South Africa ‘22\, ‘Laiks Dejot\, Riga\, Latvia ’19\, CREA conference Nepal ‘19\, Asia Triennial Manchester ’18\, Tiyatro Medresesi Turkey ’18\, Galle Literary Festival’ 18\, Colombo Art Biennale in Summerhall-Edinburgh Festival ’17\, Galleri Konstepidemin\, Sweden ’16 (Video Documentation)\, The Colombo Art Biennale ’16\, The Performing Arts Meeting in Yokohama\, \nVenuri Perera is an independent choreographer\, performance artist\, curator and facilitator from Colombo. Her work has dealt with violent nationalism\, patriarchy\, border rituals\, colonial heritage and class. She explores the power dynamics of perception\, anonymity\, sensuality by subverting frameworks of ritual through performative experiments in public space\, theatres and galleries. Since 2004\, she has collaborated in multidisciplinary projects locally and internationally. Her solo works have been invited to festivals/platforms/symposia in Europe\, Asia\, Middle East and Africa since 2010. She has collaborated closely with choreographers Geumhyung Jeong (Zürcher Theaterspektakel/Monsoon\, Critical Path Australia/Rockbund Shanghai)\, Natsuko Tezuka (Saison Foundation\, Kyoto Experiment)\, Zwoisy Mears-Clarke (Theaterformen\, Goethe Coproduction Fund) and Eisa Jocson (Mousonturm Frankfurt/ongoing). Venuri conceived and curated the programmes of Colombo Dance Platform from 2015-2020 (Goethe-Institut Colombo). She is a founding member of the independent artist collective The Packet and was a visiting lecturer at the University of Visual and Performing Arts\, Sri Lanka. Attempting to create conditions for compassion and healing in her life and work\, failing and learning\, she remains curiously optimistic. A graduate of Das Theatre ‘21\, she is currently based in Amsterdam. \nlanguage English/ entry is free \nRegister at playground@annakonjetzky.com

SUMMARY:Playground Anna Konjetzy: Gathering with Barbara Raes
DESCRIPTION:Gathering with Barbara Raes.\n\nFrom 2000-2014\, Barbara worked as a programmer and artistic director of Arts Centres BUDA and Vooruit. In 2014\, she said goodbye to the arts sector and took a year to recharge and reorient. In that context\, she trained as a facilitator of farewell rituals at Green Fuse in Totnes (UK). She also attended additional workshops around transition as well as shaping life and death. As a result\, she has become a unique connector between art/care/farewells.\n\nFrom 2015 to 2018\, she worked as a researcher at KASK\, School of Arts\, where she designed new physical and mental spaces for farewell. Simultaneously\, she founded Beyond the Spoken\, a private practice where she guides people in their grieving process by creating and facilitating a unique farewell ritual for them. Her rituals are known for their artistic\, co-creative and sustainable touch. Barbara views creating rituals as part of a larger transition movement and a broader social story. What we do for ourselves invariably also affects our relationship with our loved ones\, society and all living creatures.\n\nIn her lecture Barbara will guide you through her method of creating farewell rituals. She will explain why rituals are so important today and how we can create our own rituals for unacknowledged loss.\n\nPlease register at playground@annakonjetzky.com

One could see our\nbodies as vessels\, spaceships\, that allow us to explore a vast variety of modes of\nbeing. As human beings we are thrown into this world entering our diverse families\nand cultures in which a repertoire of ways of being are shared.\nWe shake hands this way\, greet that way\, walk this way\, hold ourselves straight\nthat way\, share our excitement this way\, dance in public sometimes if at all that way\,\nsing out loud perhaps sometimes not too much this way\, get crazy that way.\nResonance is a culmination of my life in and with music\, wherein I explored and\ncontinue to do so\, the many embodied ways in which we connect ourselves to both\nour inner field of experience\, and the outer world in which we exist.\nHow to partake in this symphony of being\, this dance of molecules that is\nhappening inside and outside of us? Does it not at least sometimes makes you truly\nwonder whether there is such a clear separation between our so-called inner being\nand what exists ‘out there’?\nAnd the moment of celebration as dance\, does it come to us when we prepare\nand organise\, or does it\, more often than we’d like it\, elude our grabbing and\ncontrolling tendencies? When does magic\, that special experience of flow emerge\nin our contemporary daily lives?\nAnd more specifically\, how do we\, artists\, explore\, invite and cultivate it today?\nThis book puts experience first. Experience makes us human. We know some thing\nis there\, because we experience it. We hear whispers in the trees\, the stars and the\nclouds. We see magic in the eyes of a cat.\n\n28.
