SUMMARY:Playground: Gathering with Simon(e) van Saarloos 'Age assigned at birth'
DESCRIPTION:Come to the Playground to hear Simon(e) share their work on ‚Age assigned at Birth‘ and share a drink\, a chat and homemade soup.\n\nFREE EVENT. IN ENGLISH\nregister at info@playground-nomadicground.com\n\nAge Assigned at Birth\nIf ageism is addressed at all\, it is often approached as affecting older people and elderly only. But ageism concerns all of us\, at any moment in life: everyone is assigned an age at birth. Author Simon(e) van Saarloos starts with an experience of childhood sexual abuse\, and moves on to dissect the ways in which constructions of “age” and “youth” function to support and reproduce white supremacist patriarchy. Against Ageism: A Queer Manifesto refuses to fight ageism by reproducing capitalist arguments of value and heterosexual notions of linear time. Age segregated education\, age related voting rights and age determined access and consent\, take linear time as naturally determined and mapped onto the individual body. When refusing the coloniality of progress\, should we abolish the category of age altogether? \n

SUMMARY:Playground: Gathering with Azadeh Ganjeh
DESCRIPTION:GATHERING with Azadeh Ganjeh\n“Don’t Let Them Turn Away: \nThe Body as a Site of Decentering Power and Reclaiming Narration” \n22th of July 19:00-20:30\nCome join us to hear from the artist and activist Azadeh Ganjeh\, followed by a shared meal prepared by the Playground Team and drinks and chatting in a casual setting. Free event. \n\n\n\n\nIn this lecture\, I would like to offer a perspective on dance as a choreographed method of resistance.\nFrom dances in public spaces where the act itself is forbidden\, to mourning dances and ritual dances in Iran\, I will explore how dance becomes a score for resistance. I will discuss how acts of resistance perform these scores\, turning them into vessels for calling for justice. Three cases will be examined: solo dances in public spaces\, mourning dances\, and the Yezle dance.\nThese choreographies not only reclaim space from structures of power\, but also create new centers within public spaces — spaces where alternative narratives and collective presence challenge domination and imagine new possibilities. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAzadeh Ganjeh was born in Tehran (Iran) is a Doc. phil in Theatre studies\, Playwright\, Dramaturge\, Performance Artist\, and Theatre Director. After receiving her BA in Civil Engineering\, she earned a Theater directing M.A degree from Tehran Art University and Graduated as a Dr. in philosophy-theatre studies from Bern University. She is an academic and researcher in exile since 2022. She left Iran while she was an Assistant Professor at the School of Performing Arts-University of Tehran. Since April 2022 she received a fellowship from the Philipp Schwartz initiative and is affiliated with The University of Hildesheim\, Institut für Medien\, Theater und Populäre Kultur. Her special interest in producing site-specific and immersive theatre Productions in favor of theatre for development\, Performance Art Activism\, and social theatre brought her national and international prizes. Her research interest is focused on Cultural Mobility theory\, Theatre for Development and Democracy\, Performativity of public events\, Aesthetics of Digitality and Performance Art\, Activism in Performance Art\, and Digital Theatre. \nThis event is free\, please register at info@playground-nomadicground.com

SUMMARY:Playground: Gathering with Brandon LaBelle Acoustic Care and the Right to Listen
DESCRIPTION:Come join us as Brandon LaBelle discusses Acoustic care and the right to listen in a warm and friendly setting in the Playground. Accompanied by drinks\, discussion and soup! \nPutting into question normative constructs of sensing and embodiment\, the presentation poses acoustics as a critical and creative support that assists in contending with dominant regimes of aurality. Acoustics is highlighted as a social\, political issue that impacts on what counts as hearing and being heard\, and around which particular listening positionalities are formed. In this way\, acoustics is a performative process or practice that shapes articulations and gestures of self-determination and community building\, affecting ways of synchronizing with others. From shared rhythms to noise-making\, tensions around belonging are negotiated through forms of acoustic performativity. Following performative approaches to acoustics further allows for caring for diverse abilities and how we may create conditions that enable different capacities and ways of living. This includes considering how acts that shift volumes\, that rework rhythms\, and that retune or detune dominant tonalities of particular contexts greatly assist in nurturing one’s right to listen. \nBrandon LaBelle is an artist\, writer and theorist living in Berlin. He is also the artistic director of The Listening Biennial and related Listening Academy. His work focuses on questions of agency\, community\, and poetics\, resulting in a range of collaborative and extra-institutional initiatives\, including Communities in Movement (2019-2023)\, The Living School (with South London Gallery\, 2014-16)\, Oficina de Autonomia (2017-)\, The Imaginary Republic (2014-19)\, Dirty Ear Forum (2013-22)\, Surface Tension (2003-2008)\, and Beyond Music Sound Festival (1998-2002). In 1995 he founded Errant Bodies Press\, an independent publishing project supporting work in sound art and studies\, performance and poetics\, artistic research and contemporary political thought. His publications include: Poetics of Listening (2025)\, Acoustic Justice (2021)\, Dreamtime X (2022)\, The Other Citizen (2020)\, Sonic Agency (2018)\, Lexicon of the Mouth (2014)\, Acoustic Territories (2010\, 2019)\, and Background Noise (2006\, 2015). \nFree Entry register at info@playground-nomadicground.com

SUMMARY:Cristina D'Alberto: To B.E.

SUMMARY:Playground: Gathering with Jack Halberstam Trans Anarchitectures
DESCRIPTION:This gathering is with the significant queer theorist and writer Jack Halberstam (author of Female Masculinities\, the Queer art of Failure and many more!)\, come join us for a talk on Trans Anarchitectures in an informal setting with wine and hanging out.\n\n\n\nAbout Trans Anarchitectures:\nMy work on anarchitecture and collapse began\, predictably perhaps\, with an encounter with the work of artist Gordon Matta Clark from the 1970’s. Matta Clark’s work\, his cuts and splits and spirals\, the gaps that he built into abandoned warehouses\, homes and offices\, left behind a vocabulary with which to describe not progress or becoming\, not development and building\, but the unraveling\, chaotic\, messy forms that voracious real estate development leaves in its wake and that in turn offers an opposition to gentrification\, real estate capital\, normative embodiment and individual success. When we return to the an/architectural experiments of GMC\, we can find traces of earlier\, potentially more radical projects than those that came to be compatible with liberal capitalism and we find them speaking in the language of unbuilding\, breaking\, cutting\, collapsing\, opening\, dismantling. This lexicon has become potent in an era of real estate domination\, market economies\, profit domination. But what does it have to do with transness? A group of trans artists including Jesse Darling but also Yve Laris Cohen and Cassils all utilize anarchitectural vocabularies on behalf of theories of trans embodiment that emphasize the cut of surgical transformation\, the demolition of the binary\, the twisting of bodily forms away from the perfect and the true. SUMMARY:Playground: Gathering with Adam Linder-Mothering the Tongue
DESCRIPTION:Adam Linder \nGathering-special edition 3rd of March 7 pm\n\nMothering The Tongue is a lecture-performance where Linder dances through a rumination on the practice of “free form” and the layers of danced experience that rise to the surface in real time. Linder’s text weaves theoretical\, cultural and personal ingredients that contribute to a “writing in real-time”\, which he then physically responds to\, propelled by a variety of music from Bach to Sinéad O’Connor. Contrary to his vibrantly staged works for the theatre and the exhibition space Mothering The Tongue is a striped-down scenario\, an invitation into a mindset that can produce electric possibilities for spontaneous embodiment.\n\nFree Entry\,\nRegister at playground@annakonjetzky.com

SUMMARY:Playground: Gathering Körper als Anarchiv with deufert + plischke
DESCRIPTION:Join us on the 1st of February for a Gathering with deufert&plischke where they share their work of AnArchive in a casual setting.\n7-8.30pm \n\n„Since 2005\, AnArchives have been created alongside our artistic work as open collections of traces of our circular work processes. The aim is to make these available again and again so that colleagues and friends can rearrange them and show us what we cannot do with them The term „AnArchive“ is a play on words between „anarchy“ and „archive“ and expresses an artistic documentation and collection practice that creates living archives (see also anarchivTANZ: https://anarchiv-tanz.net/ ).\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n»Body as AnArchive« takes up this approach\, focusing on the relationship between the imaginary\, which constitutes a fundamental aspect of human subjectivity\, and our body perception. In psychoanalysis (Lacan)\, the realm of the imaginary is an integral part of the constitution of the self and its interaction with the world. It communicates through images and is at the same time a hub of our memories and experiences. And our research about our “bodies as an archive” is about interaction with the world. While somatic practice is often introverted and attempts to sensitize body perception through anatomical visualizations (meridian system\, chakras\, sacrospinal system\, etc.)\, “Body as AnArchive” is about social perception of the world\, i.e. interaction with other people\, memories and things.\n\n»Body as AnArchive« is an open format between workshop\, conversation and social choreography.”\n\n\n\nFree Entry\, please register at playground@annakonjetzky.com

These zones fluidly overlap and intersect as do the colours on the cards.\nThe card set project began in 2022 in the frame of the Connecting Communities project from Aktion Tanz and is a collaboration between the dance artists Sahra Huby\, Carolin Jüngst\, Anna Konjetzky and Quindell Orton.\nAnna Konjetzky und Co keeps developping the scores cards as a changing\, living archive.\nThe new version printed in 2023 is now available and can be ordered by sending an email to: projects@nomadic-ak.com
