Come join us to hear from the artist and activist Azadeh Ganjeh, followed by a shared meal prepared by the Playground Team and drinks and chatting in a casual setting. Free event.<\/p>\n

In this lecture, I would like to offer a perspective on dance as a choreographed method of resistance.
\nFrom dances in public spaces where the act itself is forbidden, to mourning dances and ritual dances in Iran, I will explore how dance becomes a score<\/em> for resistance. I will discuss how acts of resistance perform these scores, turning them into vessels for calling for justice. Three cases will be examined: solo dances in public spaces, mourning dances, and the Yezle dance.
\nThese choreographies not only reclaim space from structures of power, but also create new centers within public spaces \u2014 spaces where alternative narratives and collective presence challenge domination and imagine new possibilities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Azadeh Ganjeh<\/em><\/strong> was born in Tehran (Iran) is a Doc. phil in Theatre studies, Playwright, Dramaturge, Performance Artist, and Theatre Director. After receiving her BA in Civil Engineering, she earned a Theater directing M.A degree from Tehran Art University and Graduated as a Dr. in philosophy-theatre studies from Bern University. She is an academic and researcher in exile since 2022. She left Iran while she was an Assistant Professor at the School of Performing Arts-University of Tehran. Since April 2022 she received a fellowship from the Philipp Schwartz initiative and is affiliated with The University of Hildesheim, Institut f\u00fcr Medien, Theater und Popul\u00e4re Kultur. Her special interest in producing site-specific and immersive theatre Productions in favor of theatre for development, Performance Art Activism, and social theatre brought her national and international prizes. Her research interest is focused on Cultural Mobility theory, Theatre for Development and Democracy, Performativity of public events, Aesthetics of Digitality and Performance Art, Activism in Performance Art, and Digital Theatre.<\/p>\n
