But ageism concerns all of us, at any moment in life: everyone is assigned an\u00a0age\u00a0at birth.\u00a0Author Simon(e) van Saarloos\u00a0starts with an experience of childhood sexual abuse, and moves on to dissect the ways in which constructions of \u201cage\u201d and \u201cyouth\u201d function to support and reproduce white supremacist patriarchy.\u00a0<em>Against Ageism: A Queer Manifesto<\/em>\u00a0refuses to fight ageism by reproducing capitalist arguments of value and heterosexual notions of linear time.\u00a0Age\u00a0segregated\u00a0education,\u00a0age\u00a0related voting rights and\u00a0age\u00a0determined access and consent, take linear time as naturally determined and mapped onto the individual\u00a0body.
