Liebes Publikum,
2025 ist wieder ein SPIELART-Jahr – diesmal unter dem Motto SOME KIND OF TOMORROW, das auf ein Zitat der afro-amerikanischen Schriftstellerin Toni Morrison aus dem Roman BELOVED zurückgeht. Wir wissen nicht, wie die Zukunft aussieht. Aber wir können gemeinsam über sie nachdenken, sie antizipieren, an ihr arbeiten. Über 30 Produktionen erkunden in diesem Herbst die Bruchlinien unserer Gegenwart, aus Sicht von Künstler*innen, die globale Verflechtungen, persönliche Geschichten und kollektive Erinnerungen auf die Bühne bringen.
Vom 17. Oktober bis 1. November zeigt SPIELART Tanz-, Theater- und Performance-Produktionen an verschiedenen Spielorten, u. a. den Münchner Kammerspielen, dem Volkstheater, dem Residenztheater, der Muffathalle, dem HochX oder dem Einstein Kultur. Auch im Haus der Kunst ist SPIELART diesmal wieder zu Gast – mit nora chipaumires raumgreifender Arbeit DAMBUDZO (23. & 24.10.), einer Mischung aus Performance, Tanz, Installation und ausgelassenem Konzert.
Der öffentliche Raum ist wie immer Teil des Festivalgeschehens: Die Feldherrnhalle wird zum Schauplatz für die erste Performance des „taktischen Körpers“ – bestehend aus der Münchner Künstlerin Caroline Anne Kapp zusammen mit Katarina Marková und Carla Lou Schäfer – in der Video, Audio und Live-Action aus ihrer künstlerischen Recherche zu Kunst und Militarismus gezeigt werden. Das Kollektiv God’s Entertainment tourt mit seiner mobilen Gallery-to-go und einer Live-Performance-Jukebox vor das Muffatwerk (17.10.), zum FLUX der Pinakothek der Moderne (18.10.), über den Habibi Kiosk der Münchner Kammerspiele (22.10.) bis zum Celibidacheforum vor den alten Gasteig (24.10.). Das Münchner Kollektiv ,Bruch‘– ist mit zwei Vorstellungen von SPIRIT PLASTIC im FAT CAT zu erleben (24. & 25.10.). Am letzten Festival-Wochenende (31.10. & 01.11.) geht es traditionell um den „Blick in die Zukunft“: Mit der Programmlinie BIRDS ON PERIPHERIES sind internationale Produktionen aus Beirut, Bangalore, Kuala Lumpur, Pachuca, Goma und Abidjan im Kreativquartier (schwere reiter studio, HALLE6, ZIRKA) zu Gast, die von „den Rändern aus“ schauen, erzählen und verändern wollen.

2025 is once again a SPIELART year – this time under the motto SOME KIND OF TOMORROW, which refers to a quote by African American writer Toni Morrison from her novel BELOVED. We don’t know what the future looks like. But we can think about it together, anticipate it, and work on it. More than 30 productions this autumn will explore the fault lines of our present – through the perspectives of artists who bring global interconnections, personal stories, and collective memories to the stage.
From 17.10. to 1.11., SPIELART will present dance, theatre, and performance productions at various venues, including the Münchner Kammerspiele, Volkstheater, Residenztheater, Muffathalle, HochX, and Einstein Kultur. SPIELART will also return to the Haus der Kunst this year with nora chipaumire’s large-scale work DAMBUDZO (23. & 24.10.) – a vibrant blend of performance, dance, installation, and exuberant concert.
As always, public space will play a key role in the festival: the Feldherrnhalle will become the stage for the first performance of the “tactical body” – a collaboration between Munich-based artist Caroline Anne Kapp, together with Katarina Marková, and Carla Lou Schäfer – combining video, audio, and live action drawn from their artistic research on art and militarism.
The collective God’s Entertainment will tour with its mobile “Gallery-to-go” and Live Performance Jukebox, making stops in front of the Muffatwerk (17.10.), FLUX at Pinakothek der Moderne (18.10.), the Habibi Kiosk at the Münchner Kammerspiele (22.10.), and the Celibidacheforum in front of the old Gasteig (24.10.). The Munich collective ,Bruch‘– will present two performances of SPIRIT PLASTIC at FAT CAT (24. & 25.10.). As tradition has it, the final festival weekend (31.10. & 1.11.) will once again turn its gaze toward the future: as part of the program line BIRDS ON PERIPHERIES, international productions from Beirut, Bangalore, Kuala Lumpur, Pachuca, Goma, and Abidjan will take place in Munich’s Kreativquartier (schwere reiter studio, HALLE6, ZIRKA). These works aim to view, narrate, and transform the world “from the margins.
